Laying the foundation for total health
In some ways, one could say that chiropractic care is a bit like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work together correctly. When building a house, if you tried to build your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually may even collapse. If you tried to build your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. These concepts apply to your body as well, and chiropractic care addresses many common reasons why people experience pain and other health issues. If something is not right with your body’s foundation, than that needs to be addressed before true health can be achieved. With chiropractic care, your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our Langley chiropractic office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Treatments depend on the severity of the underlying condition which is causing your pain.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of corrective or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back to 100% functioning.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing back pain or other pain symptoms, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. Usually, this phase of chiropractic care only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor based on your lifestyle and goals.

You’ll meet the doctor after filling out some brief paperwork describing you, your health history and your health goals. (You may download or print these forms from this website and complete them at your own convenience. This will decrease the amount of time spent on your initial visit in our office.)

Initial Consultation
After the details of your case are discussed, your doctor will conduct a thorough exam. Our primary focus is to detect areas of possible vertebral subluxation goals.

Visualization is a way to cross reference all the other findings. Your chiropractor is an expert in looking for subtle changes in your posture and movement which could indicate possible problems.

We use CLA Scan tecnology, Corescore, sEMG (Surface electromyography), thermal and HRV (heart rate variability).  The great thing is that it doesn’t put anything into your body and is completely sfae for children of all ages and pregnant patients.

Static Palpation
This is simply the process of feeling (or palpating) your spine in a stationary (or static) position. Your doctor will be assessing the presence of possible inflammation (or edema), tenderness, and any abnormal texture or tightness in the muscles and other tissues of your back.

Motion Palpation
This process involves feeling the spine in certain ranges of motion. Subluxated joints will not move correctly.

Digital X-Ray Studies
X-ray films enable your doctor to visualize the entire structure of your spine. This is helpful in evaluating for any disease processes, fracture, posture, joint and disc integrity, and vertebral misalignments.

Please note: Our x-rays are affordable. Proper shielding helps us to significantly reduce x-ray exposure. This gives precise information for how the adjustment needs to be specifically applied. X-rays assist the doctor to provide you with the most optimal care possible.  The doctors will assess if x-rays are required.

After a complete analysis, we will deliver a preliminary Report of Findings. This is a summary of what we discovered in your history, exam, and x-ray study. This is a great time to bring a family member that might be curious or perhaps skeptical about chiropractic.

After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and X-rays, Rai Chiropractic’s team of doctors will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers while providing the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.

Your chiropractor is now ready to deliver any necessary spinal adjustments. The focus of a chiropractor is to be as specific, precise, and accurate as possible, addressing only the problem areas (areas of subluxation).

Great care is taken to ensure a mechanically correct position and precise thrust to provide the most accurate and comfortable adjustment possible. It is the goal of your practitioner to restore and maintain optimal health by locating and correcting any interference to the nervous system caused by vertebral subluxation.

Wellness Program
Prior to leaving, the doctor will suggest a wellness program to incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire, our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
